Job Description

Role Purpose To ensure all IT systems, software, processes and hardware within the schools and external sites are supported efficiently and effectively. Meaning all IT systems of Trust schools are readily available for the use of pupils and staff and to develop those systems to provide new, faster, and better services for the whole school population (including Trustees, parents, prospective parents etc.) To enable the installation of IT hardware with a focus on IT infrastructure and Estates security installation.


Working closely with the Senior IT Operations Manager and Estates Asset Manager to install the agreed Access Control and CCTV systems. Working with the wider IT services team installing new IT hardware including screens, networking.


Key Responsibilities


General:

  • To maintain IT operation for the Trust schools, including use of PCs, laptops, network infrastructure, network appliances and peripherals

  • To ensure and manage the configuration and installation of new software onto the network and to maintain existing installations

  • To prepare a specification for build, configure and install a wide variety of computer hardware into the school.

  • To develop and enhance IT service and implement trust Information Security and IT related GDPR policies that enhance network security and to allow the implementation of new services

  • Maintain the Trust IT Infrastructure document

  • To use diagnostic methodologies that to ensure that problems are swiftly identified and resolved

  • To provide effective training and support to staff and pupils

  • Monitor software usage to evaluate long term usage

  • To ensure all tasks are carried out with due regard to Health and Safety Day to Day Tasks

  • To install, maintain, monitor and repair: a wide range of software packages to meet the needs of the curriculum and management.

  • Including but not limited to Microsoft 365 and Windows 10/11 etc.,

  • a wide range of hardware to meet the needs of the curriculum and management. Including but not limited to Switches, AP’s, Audio Visual, Structured Cabling etc.,

  • Supporting staff with using IT facilities, to enhance learning in the classroom

  • Periodic testing of network security policies to ensure that user accounts/group accounts have appropriate access permission levels

  • Operational implementation of Trust IT policies

  • Systems access control (permission management)

  • Maintenance of the school’s backup systems

  • Onsite response and regular site visits

  • Remotely access school devices when required Effective and collaborative team membership

  • Participate in training and other learning activities and professional development as required

  • Attend and participate in meetings as required

  • Perform all other reasonable requests as required within the grading of the post

Experience of:

  • IT Infrastructure and IT systems maintenance

  • Server management and maintenance

  • Networking understanding and implementation experience
