Senior DevOps Engineer

£60,000 - £75,000 per annum

Our client, based in Swindon is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join their team and embark on an exciting journey as the company continues to expand.

About the role;

A DevOps engineer covers a wide range of responsibilities, the list below gives a flavour of some of the tasks you may be asked to undertake.

• Implementing public AWS cloud infrastructure solutions including design, development, and testing.

• Use a wide range of technologies, specialising in the use of SaaS, PaaS, and open-source technologies

• Use Infrastructure as Code to define repeatable infrastructures.

• Define and build maintainable and secure solutions

• Requirement’s analysis and specification.

• Infrastructure architecture design.

• Infrastructure implementation and delivery.

• Infrastructure lifecycle and maintenance.

• Knowledge sharing both within the DevOps team and the wider company.

Responsibilities;

• Act as a deputy to the Head of DevOps.

• Heavily involved in the recruitment process of the DevOps team.

• Defining and building the infrastructure in AWS in collaboration with the Head of DevOps

• Working very closely with our development team to ensure that the infrastructure meets their requirements and is delivered in a timely manner.

• Making performance improvements to our AWS infrastructure that benefits our applications.

• Becoming responsible for cost control with-in our AWS infrastructure.

• Investigating and resolving any issues reported in the infrastructure across both production and test systems.

• Supporting our classic platform and assisting in the migration of our clients onto our new platform.

• Identifying new and improved solutions to business challenges as they arise and working to ensure that all solutions are cost effective and perform as expected.

Essential experience;

• Several years hands on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure

• Skilled in programming, preferably in Python.

• Several years' experience of using Terraform, Packer and other Hashicorp tools to build infrastructure.

• Experience in building and operation monitoring systems for both the application stack and the infrastructure hardware.

• Experience of data flows and data ingestion processes at a large scale.

• Experience of using Ansible or an equivalent configuration management tool.

• Confidence working with a team developing full-stack solutions.

• A good understanding of IP networking both IPv4 and IPv6.

• Working with all levels of business stakeholders both internal and external to the business.

• Experience in both network and application security, Firewalls, VPN’s, setting and monitoring security policies, etc.
