Job Description:

Our Client is based in North Oxfordshire and they are looking to appoint an enthusiastic colleague to join their IT Team. The role will have a focus on maintenance of IT network and AV systems, in addition to generally assisting all users. This is a great opportunity for someone with existing IT network and support experience looking to apply, and further develop understanding, across a range of systems. This role has a key focus on the network.

Main Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead maintenance of the network e.g. network patching, resolving cabling issues, updating edge switch configuration, analysing network issues, and monitoring the school cabled and wireless network generally.

  • Maintenance of AV equipment, and any other IT equipment in both presentation and classroom settings.

  • Second line IT support to all users, but also where required, providing first line support.

  • Ability to troubleshoot network, systems, and software issues from analysis through to resolution. • Ability to manage the IT service desk efficiently.

  • Installing new IT equipment e.g. wireless access points, printers, phones, switches, digital displays. • Installing and updating software, increasingly using Azure cloud-based deployment.

  • Strong communication skills to both diagnose and explain technical solutions to staff and students in a positive way, thereby ensuring a high level of user experience.

  • A solution focused, can-do attitude.

Experience required:

  • 2 years' minimum experience working in a network maintenance / IT support role

  • Experience in providing a positive and timely user experience in response to IT issues and requests • Good understanding of Active Directory and Office 365

  • Good understanding of core networking concepts including DHCP, VLANS, SSIDs, DNS

  • Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of working in an educational environment

  • Management of Cisco switches

  • Cisco Meraki networking

  • Microsoft systems, including Windows 10 management, Windows Server systems, Hyper-V virtualisation, Microsoft Teams, Intune mobile device management

  • PRTG for network monitoring

  • Paxton Net 2 Access control


Working Hours:

Full time. 37.5 hours over 6 days per week, 52 weeks per year (not term-time only).


This role will require flexible working to provide IT support coverage 8:30 am - 6:00 pm daily and on Saturday mornings during term time. Salary and Conditions:

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary: £22,000 - £25,000 depending on experience

  • 30 minutes unpaid lunch break, including lunch provided by the client

  • 21 days holiday a year, plus 8 statutory bank holidays increasing with each completed year of service, up to a maximum of 25 days
