About the role:


Our client has an incredibly exciting new opportunity available and is looking for a Global Head of Applications to join their team. The company is expanding globally and has schools within Europe, America and Asia catering to the educational needs and support. This role is a key senior role and will be responsible for the company’s applications including their global corporate systems, digital web presence, and the wealth of innovative digital learning applications.


The role will be heavily involved in the selection, implementation, and continuing support of the company’s applications. It will sit on the Global IT Executive reporting to the Group CIO.


The successful candidate will have a solid technical background, excellent team and customer management skills and strong communication abilities. They should expect to travel abroad 4-6 times a year.


Main Responsibilities:

  • To be part of the IT leadership team transforming IT across the company.

  • Responsible for delivering application projects

  • Providing a 1st class application support function

  • Build and run the processes and procedures for application transition and support

  • Strategic thinker and idea generator

  • Understand and support the regions and their school’s visions, targets, and challenges.

  • Build strong partnerships with the End User Services and PMO teams

  • Lead on the development of the company’s application policies and standards

  • Self-motivated, able to deliver under deadlines and multi-task under pressure in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment

  • Highly organised and resilient with an eye for detail and strong analytical skills

  • Oversee business analysis & alignment

  • Lead on Product & Service delivery Management

  • Enterprise & Solution Architecture – FinSys, HRIS, CRM, CMS, MIS

  • Oversee the delivery of Bespoke custom business application development

  • Oversee the delivery of Business Intelligence & Data Warehouse solutions

  • Implementing Agile development & data integrations, DevOps CI/CD and TDD

  • Implementing Product focused delivery teams within an Agile delivery framework

  • Implementing best-practice ITIL service management practices

  • Ensure Business Application support & maintenance

  • Software, data security & privacy governance

  • Opex & Capex budget responsibility

  • Build offshore and external partners for development and support capabilities


Skills:

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, able to inspire confidence and deliver a compelling vision

  • Ability to build effective working relationships, influence at all levels and work effectively to different levels of management throughout the business

  • Be a trusted advisor and consultant for the schools working as partners, influencing their decisions and strategies

  • Being a strong negotiator with experience of working with external Vendors to deliver optimal solutions to the business

  • Analytical, able to identify trends, risks, and resolutions

  • The ability to be confident, credible, and recognised as an expert in the field by customers, suppliers, and partners


Essential experience:

  • Previous experience in a senior leadership role, within a highly technical and agile environment.

  • Experience at leading teams implementing corporate wide enterprise solutions

  • Training needs assessment and management

  • A broad and strong technical background through the technology stack – preferably including integration technologies, web development and business insight tools.

  • Good understanding of ITIL Service Management best practice and having ITIL qualifications

  • Knowledge of the IT infrastructure operations environment

  • Extensive cyber security knowledge and experience

  • To possess a primary degree (or equivalent) that is technical, scientific, or numerate
